How to Heal: Prepare, So You Don’t Have to Repair

Sometimes, we tell ourselves there just isn’t enough time.

Sometimes, we tell ourselves there just isn’t enough time.

Not enough time to plan, learn, or reflect. Not enough time to teach someone else.

But if we were to calculate all the time we lose spiraling in overthinking, lying awake at night, venting to others, or using therapy to untangle what could’ve been prevented with a bit of foresight…

We’d see how much energy is spent cleaning up messes that could’ve been avoided.

Good leadership takes time on the front end. It’s a healing investment. It saves you time, energy, emotional labor, and often unnecessary pain on the back end.

  • Healing and leadership both require intentional energy investment.

  • Put the time in on the front-end, get peace and results on the backend.

Reflection questions:

  • What have I been avoiding preparing for because I “don’t have the time”?

  • What would it cost me not to invest time in this now?

  • Where have I seen this pattern before: reacting instead of preparing?

  • What would it look like to trust myself enough to slow down?

When we give ourselves time to prepare, we also allow ourselves time to breathe, to ground ourselves, and to choose responses instead of reactions.
