self-coaching: the want flow

This is the Want Flow as a map. Any dissonance we feel is usually because we did not get, achieve, receive, or feel something we wanted.

These questions help you find out what 'the want' was really about. Study it for a moment, and pay attention to the two exit points, because with deeper reflection, you reserve the right to change your mind along the way.

Then listen to the scenarios that follow and hear the flow at work in real situations via three think-alouds.

Scenario 1: The Lesson That Fell Apart

A middle school teacher sits with a class period that went sideways and traces what she was actually after.

Scenario 2: Passed Over for a Promotion

A program coordinator loses a promotion she believed she wanted and follows 'the want' flow to see what it means.

Scenario 3: The Third Cancellation

A friend cancels plans...again, and the knot it leaves behind turns out to have some valuable insight.
